Theo Jansen: Since 1990 I have been occupied creating new forms
of life.  Not pollen or seeds but plastic yellow tubes are used
as the basic material of this new nature.  I make skeletons that
are able to walk on the wind, so they don't have to eat.  Over
time, these skeletons have become increasingly better at surviving
the elements such as storms and water and eventually I want to
put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live
 their own lives.

Subj:     Why Sharks Circle You Before Attacking (S713b)
          From: redcatt on 9/9/2010

Two great white sharks swimming in the ocean spied survivors
of a sunken ship.  "Follow me son!" the father shark said to
the son shark and they swam to the mass of people.

"First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of
our fins showing." And they did.

"Well done, son!  Now we swim around them a few times with
all of our fins showing." And they did.

"Now we eat everybody!" And they did.

When they were both gorged, the son asked, "Dad, why didn't
we just eat them all at first?  Why did we swim around and
 around them?"

His wise father replied, "Because they taste better without
 the crap inside!"

Sub:     Whale Caught In Crab Traps (S481c)
         From: Joke-Of-The-Day-Mail.com on 4/11/2006

This is a true story and NOT a joke.

In the San Francisco Chronicle, December 2005, you would have
read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in
a web of crab traps and lines.  The fifty-foot whale was
weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her
to struggle to stay afloat.  She also had hundreds of yards of
line rope wrapped around her tail, her torso and a line tugging
 in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of a local island chain and
called an environmental group for help.  Within a few hours,
the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off,
the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her - a
very dangerous proposition.  One slap of the tail could kill a
 rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed
her.  When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed
like joyous circles.  She then came back to each and every diver,
one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around - she
thanked them.  Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful
experience of their lives.  The guy who cut the rope out of her
mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will
 never be the same.

May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate
this year-to be surrounded by people who will help you get
untangled from the things that are binding you..

My brother found this white tail deer alone and malnourished
when it was a tiny baby.  My family bottle-fed the baby,
named Theen, until he was eating grass.  Several months later
he's very socialized with people, our black lab, and our cats.
He is free to wander if he likes and we've seen him with
several herds of whitetail and axis deer.  Apparently he fits
in just fine with them.  He frequently comes back to the house
to eat some cat food and play with our dog, Buddy.  He doesn't
 care much for deer corn.

Fairbanks, Alaska - "They were laying new power cables
which were strung on the ground for miles.  The moose are
rutting right now and very agitated.  He was thrashing
around and got his antlers stuck in the cables.  When the
men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big
equipment, the moose went up with them.  They noticed
excess tension in the lines and went searching for the
problem.  He was still alive when they lowered him to
the ground.  He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved!
