* If I am not a multiple of 4, then I am between 60 and 69.
* If I am a multiple of 3, I am between 50 and 59.
* If I am not a multiple of 6, I am between 70 and 79.

THE SOLUTION
From statement 2,
if Im a multiple of 3, 1 must be one
of 51, 54, or 57.
But none of these is a multiple of 4,
which contradicts
statement 1. So Im not a multiple of
3. If Im not
a multiple of 3, 1 can not be a multiple
of 6, so by statement
3, 1 must be one of 71, 73, 74, 75,
76, 77, 79.
But if Im one of these numbers, then state-
ment 1 says that
I must be a multiple of 4. And the only
multiple of 4 in
that list is 76. So I am 76. |
