measure. How can they perform the division?

              THE SOLUTION

As you move the eight gallons between the cask and
the two measures. I will list on each move where
the wine is stored.
Move     8-gall Cask     5-gall Measure     3-gall Measure
0        8               0                  0
1        5               0                  3
2        5               3                  0
3        2               3                  3
4        2               5                  1
5        7               0                  1
6        7               1                  0
7        4               1                  3
8        4               4                  0
Now you have four gallns of wine in the cask and
four gallons in the 5-gallon measure.
