"Us and Them" was the seventh track on the "Dark Side of
the Moon" album in 1973.  Written by Richard Wright and
Roger Waters with lead vocals sung by David Gilmour and
an incredible saxophone piece played by Dick Parry himself!

The original version of the song was a piano piece written
by Richard Wright called "The Violent Sequence" written for
the movie "Zabriskie Point" in 1969, the piece was not used
in the movie.  Click on the above source, or 'HERE' for my

It originally appeared in the Italian film Sweden: Heaven
and Hell. It was a minor radio hit in the U.S. and in
Britain, but became better known in English-speaking
countries from its use in the first episode of The Muppet
Show.  On 30 November, 1969, "Mahna Mahna" was performed

.
 First was the original song
.
"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is a song
written and performed by the Charlie Daniels
Band released in 1979.  In the song, the
Devil, in the mood to make a deal, hears
young Johnny boasting about being the best
fiddler there ever was.  He challenges him to a contest:
if Johnny wins, he gets the Devil's golden fiddle, but if
the Devil wins, he gets Johnny's soul.  Johnny wins the
contest and the golden fiddle. Slim Wilson, Lubbock Lou,
and Zeke play back-up.  Click on Source1, or 'HERE' for my
copy, to listen to this original, great song.
.
Second was The "Muppet Show", Episode 420
.
On The Muppet Show, the Devil and Johnny
performed the classic fiddle-duel "The Devil
Went Down to Georgia" as the opening number
in episode 420 on February 11-16, 1980.
Click on Source2, or 'HERE' for my copy,
to see this episode of the "Muppet Show."
.
Third was the rewritten parody about drugs
.
"The Devil Went Down to Jamaica" was a song
written and performed by Travis "Buster" Meyer,
a DJ at Rock104 in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1998.
This parody is often miscredited to David Allen
Coe or "Weird Al" Yankovic.  Click on Source3,
or 'HERE' for my copy, to listen to the rewritten song in a
 cartoon.
.
Last was the combining of second and third parts
.
Someone on the internet took the words from
Travis Meyer's drug parody and put them in
the Muppet Show skit.  The Disney logo in
the bottom left corner makes it all the
more amazing.  Click on Source4, or 'HERE'

The Diamonds were a Canadian quartet of the 1950s and
early 1960s who rose to prominence performing mostly
cover versions of songs by black musicians.  The
original members were: Dave Somerville - Lead,
Ted Kowalski - Tenor, Phil Levitt - Baritone, and
 Bill Reed - Bass.

The Diamonds’ first recording for Mercury was "Why
Do Fools Fall in Love."  The Diamonds biggest hits
were 1957's "Little Darlin'" (originally recorded by
the The Gladiolas) and 1958's "The Stroll".

This video of a fabulous Rube Goldberg-like contraption
that produces catchy, mellow music by continuously shooting
balls at various percussion instruments is a clip removed
from the its original source and sent winging around the
Internet accompanied by a fictitious explanation of its
 origins.

The device depicted in this video does not exist, at the
University of Iowa or anywhere else.  It's an example of
a computer-animated music video entitled "Pipe Dream".
It was taken from a segment on a DVD produced by Animusic.
An excerpt of the original can be viewed on the Animusic
 web site.

Despite the above negative statements, the video is excellent.
You can view it at the above second source, or 'HERE' for my
