The Mercedes Benz SCL500 was unveiled at the Paris Motor
Show in 1996 to show off "groundbreaking systems for
improving safety and comfort in passenger cars" and
demonstrate "just how technical innovations could open
up new avenues for the styling of future top-of-the-range
cars.  These are genuine photographs of a real car, but
the car was constructed as a research vehicle, not as
something to be made available for purchase by consumers.
