Homer Jay Simpson is the fictional main character that
appears in the animated television series The Simpsons.
The series first appeared on television on The Tracey
Ullman Show short "Good Night" on April 19, 1987. Homer
is one of the most influential fictional characters on
television, having been described by the British news-
paper The Sunday Times as "the greatest comic creation
of [modern] time". He was named the greatest fictional
character "of the last 20 years" in 2010 by Entertainment
Weekly. His voice is done by Dan Castellaneta.

In these two video clips, Homer attempts to vote in
2008 and then in 2012. There is a lot of subtle humor
in the words and the background graphic of these two
clips. Pay attention or you will miss out.

Recently, while I was working in the front yard, my neighbor
and her daughter stopped to chat as they returned home from
walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked
her little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.
She said she wanted to be President some day.

Her mother, a liberal Democrat, stood there while I asked her,
"If you were President what would be the first thing you would
do?"

She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless
people." Her mother beamed with pride!

"Wow... what a worthy goal!" I said, "but you don't have to
wait until you're President to do that!"

"What do you mean?" she asked.

I told her, "You can come to my house and mow the lawn, pull
weeds, and trim my bushes, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can
go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out,
and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me
straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy
come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her mother isn't speaking to me.

I think you will laugh some but also wonder when you view
the video. It is a Russian production named "Deputaty"
which translates to "Representatives." The pictures speak
a thousand words so you don't need to speak Russian. Very

countries including ours.

Through the thirteen years that I have sent out "The Sunday
Morning Laughs", eleven people have asked me to stop sending
them these emails. One was for content, and ten have been
for my politics. Five thought I leaned too far to the left,

I can alienate both sides with the same item.

The "Grand Old Party" held their, annual Conservative Political
Action Comference, CPAC, this year at the Marriott Wardman
Park Hotel in Washington DC. Bombastic conservative talk show
host Glenn Beck closed a three-day conservative conference on
Saturday by demanding that Republicans get their own house in
order before re-trying their hand at governance. He also gave
a talk where he defined "Progressivism".

After the 9/11 terrorist attack, ABC News has asked its
staff not to wear American flag pins in their lapels, or
even red, white and blue ribbons, in an effort to protect
their credibility as objective sources.

"We cannot signal through outward symbols how we feel,
even if the cause is justified," said ABC spokesman Jeffrey
Schneider. "Overseas, it could be perceived that we're
just mouthpieces for the U.S. government, and that can
place our journalists in danger."

Since when is support for preventing our death ? destruction
some sort of a "cause"? Since when is patriotism to be
discouraged. We're slowly losing everything our country
stands for, and everything our men and women fought and died
to preserve. I urge you to boycott ABC and its sponsors
and affiliates.

determine what the people considered important. Since
there were no telephones, TV's or radios, the politicians
sent their assistants to local taverns, pubs, and bars.
They were told to 'go sip some ale' and listen to people's
conversations and political concerns. Many assistants
were dispatched at different times. 'You go sip here'
and 'You go sip there.' The two words 'go sip' were
eventually combined when referring to the local opinion
and, thus we have the term 'gossip.'
