Maurits Cornelis (M.C.) Escher (1898-1972) is one of the world's most famous graphic artists.   During his lifetime, he made 448 lithographs, woodcuts, and wood engravings, and over 2000 drawings and sketches. Escher prints, made from wood cuttings, are admired more than any picture by other artist in the scientific community.  If you enjoy viewing his prints below, please visit some of the linked sites listed to see more Escher art and to learn of his life and artistic genius.

Visit 'The Official M.C. Escher Website' at www.mcescher.com.  It contains the webpage "About M.C. Escher" which is a good mix of pictures and the backgrounds for these pictures.  The page "Virtual Ride" contains three computer simulations of rides through Escher prints.  These rides take a long time to load. 

'The Mathematical Art of M. C. Escher' at www.mathacademy.com/pr/minitext/escher/ is the best site for learning the basis of Escher's prints.  It is part of "Platonic Realms" math website.
